Liverpool plan 'stunning' bid for World Cup star and 'main battle' for €120m midfielder

Liverpool are reportedly preparing a 'stunning' offer to sign Morocco and Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat, but Tottenham are also interested.

The 26-year-old has built his reputation in Serie A. He joined Fiorentina from Belgian Club Brugge ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

He has already played more than 78 times for Fiorentina in all competitions and his form has attracted interest from clubs across Europe.

Tottenham have been mentioned as a potential destination for the midfielder in the months leading up to the summer transfer window.

Fiorentina managed to keep the central midfielder, but it looks like he will leave them in January or next summer.

His performance at the World Cup is more likely as he shone for Morocco.

Amrabat played a key role in their victory over Group F rivals Belgium earlier this week. Morocco are now second in their group and a positive result against Canada in their last game will likely take them to the knockout stages of the World Cup.

The midfielder is due to enter the final year of his contract at Fiorentina next summer, but they have the option of keeping him for another season until 2025.

Italian news outlet Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness) report that "special attention should be given to the Premier League" when it comes to Amrabat.

In the report, it is noted that both Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing him.

They add that Amrabat currently earns €1.8m a year at Fiorentina. By comparison, Liverpool would be able to make a 'breathtaking' bid to secure their services.

The lure of Champions League football may also be important in Amrabat's pursuit. Fiorentina are unlikely to qualify for the competition as they currently sit tenth in Serie A.

But his contractual situation makes Fiorentina able to demand a considerable fee for the in-form star.

On the side of Amrabat, there is a "willingness to listen above all to the Fiorentina project". But "the polls in England have already started".

Liverpool will be in the market for at least one midfielder next summer with Naby Keita, James Milner and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out of contract and expected to move on.

Jude Bellingham of Borussia Dortmund would be their main target, but they face competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Man City.

Bellingham had a positive impact at the World Cup, as did Enzo Fernandez for Argentina.

There is a €120m release clause in his contract with Benfica and he is linked with Liverpool and Man Utd.

Portuguese outlet Record (via Sport Witness) claim Benfica have 'defined' that they are 'not available to negotiate' Fernandez' January transfer.

But Liverpool are said to be among the Premier League clubs that will 'lead' the pursuit of Fernandez next summer.
