Liverpool star attracts 'lots of interest' with Bundesliga side keen on free transfer

Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita is said to be attracting 'a lot of interest' before his contract expires at the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Keita has been named as a priority signing after making good progress during his time at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig.

Liverpool were so impressed with him that they activated their £48m release clause ahead of the 2017/18 campaign. It was agreed that he would join the Reds in July 2018.

Forget Alexander-Arnold and Maddison - Southgate is stupid to have left out this English player

The midfielder was expected to shine in the Premier League as Liverpool have been successful with most of their signings in recent seasons.

But Keita hasn't been the success many had hoped for at Liverpool. The Guinea international has been hampered by injuries and he has been in and out of the squad under Jurgen Klopp.

Keita has made an appearance in the Community Shield but that's the only competitive game he's played this season. He has been out for several weeks with a hamstring injury.

His future at Liverpool is uncertain as his current contract is due to expire in 2023.

With playing time at Liverpool being limited, he is expected to move on and look for a new challenge next year.

Fabrizio Romano has now revealed that 'three or four clubs across Europe' are interested in Keita:

“There is still a lot of interest in Naby Keita, but, as I wrote a few days ago, still nothing official in terms of contacts or offers,” Romano wrote for Caught Offside.

"Borussia Dortmund are among 3-4 European clubs interested in Naby Keita should he become a free agent.

"The situation is still open with Liverpool, Naby wants guarantees to sign a new contract at Anfield, so it will be decided in the coming months.

"Personally, I think he's a top player, so it's no surprise there's a lot of interest, and he wants to be a big player himself.

"As I wrote recently, he is eager to see how well he fits into Jurgen Klopp's plans before making a final decision."

Romano discussed the possibility of Liverpool signing Enzo Fernandez:

"We've heard a lot about Jude Bellingham, and now Enzo Fernandez is making headlines," Romano continued.

"Honestly, I think Liverpool will be tied at 20-30 midfielders in the coming months as it is common knowledge that they are looking for a top midfielder in 2023.

"As for Enzo Fernandez, he has just arrived at Benfica, he is focused on Benfica and the World Cup - no one around him wants to talk about a potential transfer now. To be seen in the summer!"< /p>
