Liverpool target 'ready to leave' Bundesliga outfit but club 'pose biggest threat' in transfer fight

Liverpool reportedly remain interested in Youssoufa Moukoko and it is understood he is 'ready to leave' Borussia Dortmund next year.

The 18-year-old has made a name for himself this season taking on the unenviable task of replacing Erling Haaland.

Moukoko was only used sparingly last season as Dortmund still had the luxury of bringing in the Man City star at that time.

But he has featured more prominently this season with him playing 22 times for Dortmund in all competitions.

He was one of the stars of the Bundesliga with six goals and six assists in the league.

His form for Dortmund earned him a place in Germany's World Cup squad and he made a brief appearance in their 2-1 loss to Japan.

Dortmund made a pretty penny on Haaland earlier this year and they look set to take a heck of a lot of cash next summer with clubs lining up to take Jude Bellingham.

But the same cannot be said for Moukoko, as the young striker is expected to be out of contract at the end of this season.

Last month it was claimed that Liverpool were leading the race to sign Moukoko as several clubs eyed a bargain next summer.

90min have now provided an update and they report that "an increasing number of clubs believe Moukoko is ready to go".

They understand that Dortmund and the player 'have yet to finalize his plans' which is concerning as he is about to enter the final six months of his contract.

Dortmund "remains hopeful" that he will stay, but "a host of top teams from across Europe are monitoring his situation, hoping they can lure him in".

Bayern Munich have 'clarified' that Moukoko 'would be welcome' at their club. He is potentially considered to replace Robert Lewandowski, who joined FC Barcelona this summer.

Liverpool and Manchester United are "watching him closely", but the club that "poses the biggest threat" is Barcelona.

90min added that Moukoko 'grew up as a Barcelona fan' and it's his 'dream' to one day play for the Spanish giants.

Another Liverpool-linked player is Juventus and France star Adrien Rabiot. Like Moukoko, he is out of contract next year.

Speaking on Thursday, the midfielder hinted that he has yet to make a decision on his future.

"If I stay with Juve? I don't know yet and now is not the time to talk about it," Rabiot told La Repubblica

“There is no doubt that these performances help me to go elsewhere, but also to speak to Juve. But now my focus is on the World Cup.

"The experience in Serie A has served me well, I cannot speak for Theo [Hernandez] and [Olivier] Giroud, I speak for myself. It has been very useful to me because thanks to your attention on tactics, I learned a lot of things and I put them into practice."
