LP insists on Adegeye as Reps candidate

Ahead of the February 25 general election, Labor Party (LP) chairman of Amuwo-Odofin local council, Ebele Nwuzor, said George Adegeye remains the party's candidate for the House of Representatives in the council .

In a statement yesterday, titled "No Controversy: Adegeye is the Labor Party's Candidate for the Federal Constituency of Amuwo-Odofin", Nwuzor noted that since Adegeye became the Representatives' Candidate, many other members had actually been galvanized for the sake of the party.

He maintained that no amount of blackmail or false allegations from Ejike Metu, who was claiming the ticket, would hinder the party's journey to total victory in Amuwo-Odofin.

Nwuzor also cited the court statement that confirmed Adegeye as the party's standard bearer, noting that the party, armed by this legal pivot, would deliver its candidate to the polls next month.

The statement reads: "The judgment of the Court of Appeal dated November 18, 2022 confirmed that George Adegeye was the genuine candidate of the LP for the federal constituency of Amuwo Odofin in the general election of 2023."

We were surprised to see the posters of a self-proclaimed candidate, Ejike Metu, who we knew had previously contested the Reps ticket in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before joining LP.

"We appreciate Ejike's decision to join LP, but we will not tolerate any attempt to sow division within the party for selfish ends."
