MAGIC Miami will debut in January

Informa Markets Fashion, organizer of wholesale fashion events in the United States, will hold its first MAGIC Miami in January. The two-day event will be held at the Miami Convention Center on January 8-9. Selections will include immediate items for quick restocks and pre-order picks for the summer.

Miami is the latest market made more accessible to retailers and manufacturers by Informa Markets Fashion, which also owns Project, Coterie and Sourcing at MAGIC. The new regional show aims to meet the demand and potential of the industry. The upcoming show is also being held to help attendees break into new markets — a priority for many, in part due to booming sales in secondary cities like Nashville, Tennessee. Kelly Helfman, president of Informa Markets Fashion, said in a statement that market research, customer feedback and data indicated the Southeast region is a strong market for a mid-tier event.

Miami has been gaining traction among fashion retailers over the past six months. In the spring, Ralph Lauren opened a concept store in the Miami Design District, while Dior Men opened a unit there earlier this summer. Kith, Ami Paris and Acne Studios are also new to the city when it comes to retail. And Michael Kors has opened a lifestyle store at the Aventura Mall, just outside of Miami. Staud reportedly secured a lease for a new location at Bal Harbor Shops. Last month, DJ Khaled and Snipes unveiled a concept store.
