Magliano Men Fall 2023

Rustic, chunky knits — right down to sweater coats — are a recurring story in Milan, and Luca Magliano came elegantly pilled and falling just like that, the latest example of his meticulous approach to rhythmic, vintage menswear.

His clothes have soul and lived familiarity that the designer mixes and recontextualizes to create runway personalities intriguing - not the life of the party, but the quirky, skated guy in the corner who houses the most interesting life story.

The designer is certainly a denim genius, sometimes cut slim and wearing cargo pockets, or loose and uniquely distressed.

It exalts the humble archetypes of fashion: the work jacket, the surplus coats of the army and safety shoes. According to his show notes, "Luxury is nothing more than a gesture."

His student, of all ages, walks slowly through a jumble of chairs, giving the audience plenty of time to study the stacks of clothing and the interesting details: the pleated collars; extra-long shirt tails ending in dangling braids; the loose fit and striking color combinations, like peach with army green or baby pink with beige.

Another sentence stood out in the press release, and seemed to say a lot about this label, which wins from the heat on the Milan scene: "Underwear is mohair."
