Man Utd 'completely focused' on Antony and Gakpo as Romano rules out decision for Arsenal target

Man Utd are focused on other targets and are not currently looking to compete with Arsenal for Wolves winger Pedro Neto, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

The Red Devils are still trying to bring a number of players to the club before the end of the transfer window, with Erik ten Hag looking to improve his squad.

Man Utd signed Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro this summer and at least one striker is now their priority.

Arsenal can make hay while the sun is shining but need Tielemans and Neto to usurp their rivals

Ajax winger Antony has been their primary target for much of the summer transfer window, but agreeing a fee with the Dutch club has proven tricky.

Their latest offer of €80m has been rebuffed by Ajax, with reports the Eredivisie side are looking for €100m for the Brazil international.

PSV Eindhoven winger Cody Gakpo is seen as an alternative to Antony. There are rumors that they could sign both if Cristiano Ronaldo decides to leave the club.

Speaking on his YouTube channel yesterday, Romano said: "Cody Gakpo and his agents again sent a clear message to Manchester United on Monday: Gakpo wants the move, Gakpo wants Manchester United.

"He would be ready to accept the terms of the contract, he would be super happy to move to the Premier League. Gakpo is ready to say yes to Manchester United, like Antony."

And now the transfer expert has dismissed rumors that Man Utd could move for Wolves winger Neto with Arsenal as the likely destination for him.

It is understood Wolves are looking for 'over £50million' if they are to approve the sale of Neto this summer and the signing will 'not be easy' for Arsenal.

"Arsenal are still focused on loaning Nicolas Pepe to Nice and then they will try to discuss Pedro Neto," Romano told Caught Offside.

"There has been speculation that Neto has been offered to Manchester United, but I understand they are completely focused on Antony and Cody Gakpo."

The Gunners' interest in Neto has delighted former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Frimpong, who also wants the club to sign Youri Tielemans from Leicester.

"I would like us to buy two more midfielders and a winger in the transfer window," Frimpong said. “The midfield is always light. If [Thomas] Partey or [Granit] Xhaka get injured, we'll be in big trouble.

"I woke up and saw that we were linked with Pedro Neto of Wolves. I think he's a great player. He's a very decisive player in individual situations and he's the type player we need.

“I would like Youri Tielemans to join me too. They are young players and that is what Arsenal want. Both would make a big difference for the team.”
