Man Utd 'preparing' £173m for Ten Hag to bring in three World Cup stars in January

Premier League side Man Utd are reportedly ready to back Erik ten Hag in the January transfer window with three major signings.

The Red Devils put themselves in a decent position to kick off after the World Cup break with Erik ten Hag guiding them to fifth in the Premier League, three points behind fourth-placed Tottenham. with one match less.

Man Utd have lost just twice in their last 12 Premier League games and they will hope to pick up where they left off with a last-minute win over Fulham on November 13.

But Ten Hag still wants more and wants the club to invest again in the January transfer window after spending over £200m this summer.

Man Utd saved money on the mutual termination of Cristiano Ronaldo's contract but they will now need another centre-forward in January or summer.

It would ideally be the winter window for Ten Hag with Marcus Rashford and injury-prone Anthony Martial his only current attacking options in midfield.

And now Spanish publication Nacional claims Ten Hag has 'asked' the Man Utd board to provide him with 200m euros (£173m) to sign three players in January.

Ten Hag is "committed to continuing to build a team that matches his style and model of play" and "will look to solidify his team through more signings".

Man Utd 'have €200m prepared' for Ten Hag to 'face' the winter transfer market, with Ten Hag 'mainly' looking to strengthen their attack.

Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos is his 'first target' with a price tag likely to be around €120m, while he is also keen to expand his options with the PSV striker Eindhoven Cody Gakpo as next priority.

Gakpo, who played at the World Cup alongside Ramos, is reportedly available for around €80m, according to Nacional, while another of their targets, the winger of Chelsea, Christian Pulisic, could be loaned.

Man Utd striker Martial may have suffered a number of injuries during his time at Old Trafford but former Red Devils midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger insists his 'potential' no doubt.

Schweinsteiger told United's official website: "His potential is huge. I remember him very well when he came to United, and he scored the goal against Liverpool in a special way.

"With him you have to give him confidence. But you also have to push him sometimes, you know, and then he can be one of the best players.

"But he has to understand that first, you know, and that's the job of the coaches and also the teammates. If you play with someone like him, you want to see the quality of that player all the time You expect it because you know what this player is capable of.”

Schweinsteiger added: "When I was playing with him, my goal was always to get him in the right position with the ball. So to give him the ball in the right moments when he can show his ability the most. As a against one, one against two, with the ball, facing the opposing goal.

"These are the moments he [is] waiting for, and then he actually produces. At the end of the day, what matters to him are the goals and the assists."
