Man Utd's top four players under Erik ten Hag, including star Jose Mourinho, rated high

Manchester United have started to hit form in recent weeks under Erik ten Hag after a terrible reign by the Dutchman. The club now sit fifth in the Premier League despite being entrenched at the bottom of the table after two games. One of the key elements to that success has been the form of Diogo Dalot finally starting to realize the potential that Jose Mourinho first hinted at during his ill-fated spell in charge of the Red Devils.

Diogo Dalot

Mourinho claimed Dalot could be United's first choice for the next decade while in charge of the club and it's fair to say the Old Trafford faithful had rarely seen this kind of form before this season.

However, he has completely transformed his performance in recent weeks to become a reliable defensive presence and help Ten Hag progress the ball from deep areas. With Aaron Wan Bissaka no longer in the first-team picture, it looks like the Portuguese star is about to realize Mourinho's philosophy.

Lisandro Martinez

It didn't look like Martinez was cut for life from the Premier League after his first two appearances in a red shirt. The Argentine was terrorized by Brentford's Ivan Toney in his second game for the club and was hung at half-time in the 4-0 humiliation.

However, his performance has completely reversed since he was paired with Raphael Varane rather than restless skipper Harry Maguire. He has quietly been one of the best centre-halves in the league with United in love with his passionate, no-nonsense style. The Red Devils are now a team built on a much stronger foundation, which owes a lot to Martinez.

Scott McTominay

Another player who came under fire when the season got off to a bad start was McTominay. The Scot has been criticized for being slow on the ball, with his contribution falling short of the club's high standards.

However, he became an important part of Ten Hag's first team in the following weeks, excelling as an energetic midfielder. He was the perfect base for the more technically gifted Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes to create goalscoring opportunities. His performances have been so good that he rightly managed to keep Casemiro out of the starting line-up despite the Brazilian's big move from Real Madrid in the summer.
