< p class="" data- reactid=".2eykotqnmvo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-3">The 28-year-old played for Glamorgan in the 2019, 2021 and 2022 seasons.

But the availability of Labuschagne for 2023 will be limited by the Ashes series between England and Australia in June and July.

< p class="" data-reactid=". 2eykotqnmvo.0.0.0.1.$paragraph-5">"I love playing for Glamorgan and look forward to coming to Cardiff and Wales every year," said Labuschagne.

"It has become a second home for me and my family and I am excited to return for another two years.

"Since I arrived here the players, staff and supporters of Glamorgan have treated me like I was one and I'm extremely grateful.

"I can't wait to go back in Wales and help the team earn more silverware."

Labuschagne originally signed for Glamorgan as a relatively little-known international player, but reached 1,114 championships in 2019 to land a starring role in the Ashes Series that summer.

In 2022, he scored 377 Championship runs in five games at an average of 41.9 and claimed 10 wickets, but had less of an impact in six T20 Blast games.

"It's great news that Marnus is back," said Glamorgan ace cricket manager Mark Wall.

"He'll also have the Ashes series next summer so we'll definitely have him at the start of the season for a while.

"He has been great for us since joining us. He sees Cardiff and Glamorgan as part of his home and bringing him back is great.

"I'm sure Marnus could get better financial deals elsewhere, but that just goes to show that he considers returning to Cardiff to be important.

"We gave him the opportunity to develop his game in 2019 and every time he comes back, he is a better player.

"The face he chooses to return to rather than seek elsewhere testifies to him ."

Labuschagne's early exit from County in 2022 to play for Australia saw a successful comeback in the Championship for South African Colin Ingram, who had previously played only one four-day match in four years.

He is still in talks with Glamorgan on a new deal.

Fast bowler Michael Neser is already under contract for 2023, but the Queenslander could also be required for Duty from the Ashes.

The three foreign players miss the last month of the 2022 season due to commitments elsewhere, showing the difficulty of recruiting international stars to play throughout the summer in the Kingdom -United.
