Matchesfashion launches the Barbour x Chloé collaboration

The long-awaited Barbour x Chloe collab is ready to take flight, with a winged jacket and coat which available exclusively on Matchesfashion.

Chloé's creative director, Gabriela Hearst, who was born and raised in Uruguay, said that his Barbour roots ran deep. She grew up watching her father and stepfather – both South American gauchos or cowboys – wear the waxed cotton jackets.

"I have a special connection with Barbour. I've had it my whole life because I grew up on a ranch in Uruguay, where we were very traditional gauchos, there were two brands that my father and stepfather wore: Barbour and Pringle shirts. And they were both Scottish and English. And the reason they wore it is because they were utilitarian. And so anytime we can mix the useful with the beautiful, it makes me very excited," she told WWD. /p> Related Galleries

Hearst said she also grew up wearing Barbour coats and the longevity of the brand aligned with its core sustainability values. “They last forever. You can always re-wax them. The more they are used, the more beautiful they are to me. Really like them with years of use.”

Now the designer has collaborated with the British brand on the capsule that updates the classics of the country. It drops today and is available exclusively on Matchesfashion until December 9, before landing in Chloé boutiques worldwide and at select Barbour retailers.

Barbour x Chloe pieces were unveiled as part of the pre-Spring 23 collection earlier this year, with the Dany coat and the Dustyn jacket with ruffled shoulders. The winged silhouette became a house signature under Hearst. The designer noted that the large flourishes on the shoulders refer to The Winged Victory of Samothrace, one of the most famous Greek sculptures on display at the Louvre Museum.

The Hadrine riding cape is also featured in the collection, along with the three outerwear of the capsule designed by Hearst and produced by Barbour.

Cape Hadrin.

Accessories are also available, with two sizes of Edith bag, Mallo and Noua style boots, as well as well as a bob and a scarf. These are made by Chloé from Barbour's signature waxed cotton textiles and incorporate the brand's signature tartan checks.

The collection will also be on display as part of an installation at Matchesfashion's London townhouse , 5 Carlos Square.
