"I am a woman from the cotton fields of the South," Walker said in 1912, according to her website.

"From there, I was promoted to the basin. From there, I was promoted to the cook's kitchen. And from there, I was promoted to the manufacturing of products and hair preparations…I built my own factory on my own land.”

Born in 1867, Sarah Breedlove, infamously known as Madame C.J. Walker, is still revered today as the nation's first self-proclaimed female millionaire. In the 1900s, the Louisiana native gained notoriety for establishing herself as a pioneer of the modern black hair care and cosmetics industry.

During her lifetime, Walker founded her own company and sold Madam Walker's Wonderful Hair Grower, a conditioning and healing scalp formula. To promote and sell its products, it has built a factory, a hair and nail salon and two training schools.

With the help of Mrs. C.J. Walker's great-great-granddaughter, A'Lelia Bundles, Walker's significant contributions to the beauty industry have opened doors for generations of Black women.

Madame C.J. Walker doll is depicted as an elegant patroness. She stuns in a floral print blouse that accentuates the large ruffled trims around the shoulders and puffy sleeves. Her outfit ends with a floor-length turquoise skirt. Doll also includes a "Madame C.J. Walker's Wonderful Hair Grower" accessory.

Bundles, which is also the founder of MADAM by Madam C.J. Walker hair care products, worked closely with Mattel to get everything right, from packaging to hair development, Yahoo Life reported. The experience was a pleasure for the author and journalist.

"Being able to include Mrs. C.J. Walker in the Barbie's Inspiring Women series means her story will be shared around the world like never before," Bundles told Yahoo Life.

"Knowing that little girls and big girls will have access to Madame Walker and that the physical symbolism of her story means she will explode exponentially like never before."

The latest addition to Mattel's collection joins incredible heroines such as Maya Angelou, Ida B. Wells and Rosa Parks.

Madame C.J. Walker doll is available to order at Walmart, Target, Amazon, and Mattel Creations for $35.
