Melanie C pulled out of a New Year's concert in Poland after being told about issues "that don't fit the communities I support".
The Spice Girl was scheduled to perform in the city of Zakopane on Saturday.
She did not specify why she canceled her appearance, but her decision was welcomed by LGBT people and their allies.
Polish authorities and the TV channel organizing the concert have been widely criticized in recent years for their positions on LGBT rights.
The singer wrote on the networks social: "In light of some issues that have been brought to my attention, which do not align with the communities I support, I have I'm afraid I won't be able to perform in Poland as planned on New Year's Eve.
"I hope to return very soon. Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and best wishes for 2023. Melanie xxx."
The New Year's Eve show is organized by the public television channel TVP, which said it pulled out "under pressure from online comments".
