Mickey Arthur: Derbyshire cricket chief extends contract until end of 2025

Derbyshire Head of Cricket Mickey Arthur extended his contract until the end of 20 25.

The 54-year-old former Australia, South Africa and Pakistan manager was appointed in November 2021 after leaving Sri Lanka.

"We are delighted to extend Mickey's deal," chairman Ian Morgan said on the club's website.

"He has started an exciting project and wants to bring success and silverware back to our county."

Derbyshire achieved a record nine club wins in the 2022 group stage, before being beaten by Somerset through to the quarter-finals, as six players made over 1,000 runs across all formats last season.

Morgan added: "When we named Mickey, we saw it as a statement of our ambition, and the development that has taken place over the past 12 months has highlighted our potential as a club. trophy since the 1990s - although they were County Championship Division 2 champions in 2012.

" The supporters made me feel instantly welcome, we have a team full of potential and I'm looking forward to developing it and challenging for silverware at the pinnacle of county cricket."
