A ballet dancer wanting to go straight from rehearsals at Berghain could do worse than pick cherries right from the start. spring Collection MM6 Maison Margiela — a mix of bodysuits, ripped jeans, fragments of sweaters and strange leather jackets.
The Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano performed excerpts from Igor Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" in as male and female models strung their way through a stage with extremely uncomfortable little black stools.
This fashion troupe's baguette posture added an elegance to their oversized, ratty sweatshirts - the pocketed jeans, while the style—various negligee suggestions—added an underlying sexy touch. Spaghetti strap camisoles were worn in multiples, some pulled down or worn as a belt to refine the boxy cut.
According to press notes, jeans and downed knitwear were meant to evoke scuff marks from worn-out clothing - in ballet flats and provides ventilation in the sweltering summer heat. The snippets of knuckle-warming knits, around the hips, shoulders and elbows, looked cool and added an edge to many looks.
The running vests — the result of an ongoing collaboration with French outdoor brand Salomon — seemed a bit out of place, but no doubt handy for staying hydrated while working out at the bar or having an all-nighter at the club.
