Ozo Mmamel, said the issue in the Enugu State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is being orchestrated by the state chairman, Chief Ugochukwu Agballah, to serve the interests of a anonymous political party.

Mmamel spoke to The Guardian amid a recent threat to suspend him from the APC, following his endorsement of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate in the state, Dr Peter Mbah.

However, Agballah said the party has decided to eliminate all those whose members are only known in Abuja, but without a visible presence in their constituencies and constituencies.

Rejecting the threat to activate disciplinary action against him, Mmamel said it had become clear that Agballah wanted to damage the structure and electoral fortunes of the APC.

He said, "Does a person suspend a key player a few weeks before a national election do so in the best interest of the party or to satisfy their own purpose."

“The question you should ask me is whether or not I believe in Agballah as the State Chairman of APC. The answer is no. cannot set up a disciplinary committee against me, because I have not been on the same wavelength with him.

“One question we kept asking Agballah when he announced his intention to challenge the party presidency was whether he had joined the party. I answer his summons? It's just working in your enemy's tent. I can't give him that pleasure, what he's doing is a charade; the party needs me, I don't need party."

Mmamel, who was commissioner for culture and tourism in the state, revealed that virtually all major APC stakeholders in the state had publicly renounced Agballah's presidency.

He said: "Former state governor Sullivan Chime who is from the same Udi/Agbudu area is not with him. Foreign Minister Geoffrey Onyeamah is not with him. is not with him, even the CEO of Voice of Nigeria, Osita Okechukwu is not with him.

“These are APC leaders from the immediate constituency of Agballah. So these misdeeds are the bane of the problem in our party. invading the APC in Enugu, and imposing Agballah on them without their knowledge. This is the harsh reality."
