Morgan double puts USA on course for semis with 3-0 win over Haiti

July 5 - USA star striker Alex Morgan wasted no time in earning his 2022 Concacaf W Championship goalscoring tally in Monterrey, with two goals in the 3-0 USA win on Haiti.

Morgan, assisted by Mallory Pugh, sent a heeling shot into the net for her first in 16 minutes. In the 23rd minute, she scored again with a header to make it 2-0 for USA. She could have scored a hat-trick in the first half, being denied in the 37th minute by the post.

Haiti could have pulled one back just before half-time when Nerilia Mondesir was fouled in the box by Emily Fox. Roselord Borgella prepares for a penalty but misses, hitting the post.

Things went from bad to worse as Borgella was shown a red card after fouling Kelley O'Hara. However, the VAR review ruled that it was a yellow card and not an expulsion.

USA showed their star quality with Megan Rapinoe joining the action in the 74th minute to claim her 190th cap.

In the 84th minute, Margaret Purce scored USA's third goal after Haiti failed to clear the ball.

The United States will next face Jamaica, while Haiti will meet Mexico.
