The resolutions were in a statement jointly signed by Dogara and a former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State and former Minister of Water Resources under the administration of President Olusegun Obasanjo, Mukhari Shagari, after a consultative meeting held in Abuja on Saturday.

The meeting also included a former Governor of Adamawa State, Boni Haruna; a former governor of Kwara State, Abdulfattah Ahmed; former Sports Minister Damishi Sango; Senator Idris Ahmed Umar; and two former Deputy Governors of Kogi State, Yomi Awoniyi and Simon Achuba.

The communiqué said in part: "The Northern Christian leaders of the APC have, in accordance with their communiqué issued on July 29, 2022, met with Muslim brothers and sisters in the 19 northern states and the FCT and resolved as follows:

"That we have agreed to work together to promote unity, peace and national cohesion.

"Working together and jointly adopting a pan-Nigerian political platform that will engender unity, inclusiveness and a sense of belonging among Nigerian citizens.

"Aware of the multi-ethnic, multi-religious and multi-cultural configuration of Nigeria, we believe that a same-faith ticket and religious-based voting can trigger dangerous dimensions of negative consequences among our disparate peoples of in a way that will hinder nation building.

"As a result, we have agreed to channel our energies on issues that unite us more as a people instead of encouraging attacks on sensitive issues that disturb religion in the name of politics. .

"In light of the foregoing, we have agreed to establish a committee to develop strategies to advance the objectives set out in this resolution."
