My choices won't mislead the people of Rivers, says Wike

Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike said the interest and protection of the state was paramount, saying he could not mislead the people of Rivers on his political decision on which presidential candidate to support on Saturday.

Wike made the claim on Thursday during the inauguration of some road projects in the Port Harcourt local government area.

The first project that Wike opened at Ojoto Roundabout at Mile 2 Diobu in Port Harcourt was the Azikiwe/Iloabuchi dual road.

Other road projects have been reconstructed/rehabilitated between Edeokia/Femie/Aeroplane Drive/Okuru Junction to Abuloma Jetty Road.

Wike said he has always advised holders of political officers or those in positions of trust to know that when their people confide in them, they should seize the opportunity to improve their lot.

He said, “When you have an opportunity, when people trust you, you have to make them happy too. How to make them happy? It's making sure to provide them with things that change their environment, things that will improve their lives, things that will improve economic activities in their region. »

Wike said the people of Rivers gave him great opportunities to achieve so much in his private life and political career.

"For what Rivers State has given me, I owe them (the people of Rivers) a lot in my life and I will continue to protect their interests. I am not going to sell Rivers State to anyone for a pot of porridge.

"And that's why if I tell you this is the right place, know that this is the right place. I'm not going to deceive you. I'm not one of those leaders who run around for their personal interest."

He advised the people to beware of some of their leaders, who promote crisis among their people, leading to killings instead of creating opportunities.

In his remarks, Rivers State Commissioner for Works, Dr. George-Kelly Alabo, said the Azikiwe/Iloabuchi Dual Road was completed in six months and that it had improved the aesthetics of the area, changed the dynamic socio-economic status of the people and smoothed the traffic flow.
