NEDG, NESG invite Obi, Tinubu and others for presidential debate on economic policy

The Nigerian Elections Debates Group (NEDG), in collaboration with the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), is organizing a Presidential Debate on Economic Policy to be held on November 15, 2022 and will serve as a launch pad for the discussions. on the roadmap to an inclusive and prosperous Nigeria.

The debate will be organized by NEDG and NESG with the support of Nigeria Broadcasting Corporations, Union of Nigerian Journalists (NUJ), Nigeria Editors Guild (NGE), Center for Journalism Innovation and Development (CJID), Enough is Enough Nigeria (EiE), BudgIT and Radio, Television, Theater and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU).

This is contained in a statement jointly signed by NEDG Chairman John Ugbe and NESG Chairman Asue Ighodalo.

According to the statement, Nigeria is at a defining moment in its history, and as we count down to the 2023 elections, it is essential, as never before, to inspire Nigerians to make voting choices illuminated.

“The challenge before us, therefore, is to ensure the development of transformational leaders with a broad knowledge of the issues and the political will to steer the ship of our great nation towards shared economic prosperity. The partnership is strategic and will launch the process of realizing this Nigerian dream.

"The debate, scheduled for November, is part of the #IfNotNowWhen? Initiative. #IfNotNowWhen aims to raise awareness among stakeholders and Nigerian citizens for peaceful, informed and accountable democratic participation.

“NEDG is poised to facilitate this effort, being a coalition of broadcast organizations, civil society and professional groups tasked with organizing and hosting live television debates for presidential candidates. President, Vice President and Governor since 1999.

"The Presidential Economic Policy Debate aims to curate content that focuses on the state of the economy and addresses citizens' concerns.

“This process will empower them to choose from candidates for the presidency and other leadership positions slated for the national elections in February.
