Netflix ad-supported tier can have ad-free content
Bloomberg thinks Netflix may not run ads during the original movies when they first come out and instead insert ads later. We don't know how long the big N will run a newer movie ad-free, but this strategy can help alleviate some of the concerns filmmakers might have about ads while on the job.
Netflix's original children's programming would also benefit from this ad-free treatment and the same could apply to content produced by outside studios. Some studios may not allow Netflix to run ads during certain shows or movies licensed by the company, but it can work around this by running ads before or after watching the program.
Netflix has confirmed that it plans to launch an ad-supported tier soon. It's supposed to arrive in early 2023. In July, Microsoft announced a partnership with Netflix to provide the infrastructure to power the streamer's ad-supported tier. Co-CEO Ted Sarandos later said that the ad-supported tier wouldn't have all the content currently offered by Netflix at launch. We should know more soon.
