In the compendium's haunting pages are shots of Darwen's Tower on the West Pennine Moors silhouetted against a full moon, South Stack Lighthouse in Anglesey illuminating the surrounding rocks and t some of the British lighthouses. the most picturesque villages and streets enveloped in a soft nocturnal glow.

McNeill, who is based in the North West of England, says the idea for the book "was to try to capture the Great Britain in a unique way". "Most people take pictures during the day - well I get a buzz from taking pictures at night so I thought I'd travel all over Britain," he wrote.
