Newcastle 'want' Chelsea man as 'declaration signing' and have advantage over Man Utd and Arsenal

Newcastle United are preparing a bid for Chelsea outcast Christian Pulisic, with Manchester United and Arsenal also interested, according to reports.

Pulisic failed to endear himself to former Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel and saw no increase in playing time under Graham Potter.

The 24-year-old recently took part in the World Cup in Qatar with the United States, helping his side climb out of Group B before a round of 16 exit at the hands of the Netherlands.

Given his lack of playing time at Stamford Bridge, Pulisic has been heavily linked with a move in 2023.

Manchester United were keen to bring him to Old Trafford last summer but could not reach an agreement with Chelsea.

Arsenal were another team believed to be in the mix, although the two Premier League heavyweights were believed to be more keen on a loan than the permanent signing of the American winger.

While these two were considering a move, the rich and dirty Newcastle would also be interested.

Despite a lot of interest and going through a tough time in west London, Florian Plettenberg reported last month that Pulisic was eager to stay at Chelsea and prove his worth to Potter.

Plettenberg, however, says he could leave if he receives an 'interesting and interesting offer' during the winter transfer window.

And according to the Mirror, Newcastle are preparing to submit a bid when the transfer window reopens in January.

Eddie Howe is apparently hoping Pulisic can be the Magpies' next 'statement signing' after agreeing deals to sign Bruno Guimaraes, Alexander Isak and Sven Botman this year.

United and Arsenal are said to be 'monitoring' the winger's situation, although Newcastle hold a key advantage over the big boys in the Premier League.

The Red Devils and Gunners will try to sign Pulisic on loan, unlike the Geordies, who are interested in a permanent contract.

That would suit Chelsea perfectly as they 'prefer to sell' the USA international.

However, their asking price would start at around £40m, despite the fact that they paid a fee of around £85m to sign him from Borussia Dortmund.

Newcastle 'hopes' Chelsea will lower prices, presumably because they have to compete under Financial Fair Play rules.

A wide striker is one of the north east club's top priorities in January as they look to continue their push into continental football next season.

If a move for Pulisic does not materialize, Eddie Howe is said to turn his attention to Brighton's Leandro Trossard or Leeds United's Jack Harrison.

However, Pulisic would be tempted to move to Newcastle with the possibility of regular Premier League play tickling his fancy.

The 24-year-old was brilliant for the United States at the World Cup, assisting his side's goal against Wales before scoring a crucial winner in their Group B final against Iran .

Newcastle are currently third in the Premier League with one defeat in their first 15 matches.
