NFF collaborates with Iraq

The Football Federation of Nigeria has expressed interest in working with countries with pedigree in the game to ensure real growth in Nigerian football at the grassroots level.

NFF Chairman Ibrahim Gusau said so on Wednesday in Abuja during a courtesy visit to Iraq's Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Anwer Saeed.

In a statement released by NFF communications director Ademola Olajire, Gusau said: "Our country has a strong pedigree in football, along with over 200 million fans and stakeholders who are passionate about football. We are aware that the people of Iraq are also very passionate about football. It is important to seize the opportunity to explore areas of cooperation and collaboration that will benefit both our nations.

"Football is that great unifying factor that keeps getting bigger and stronger to maintain the unity of the world and assume a greater role in international relations. It is also a soft power with a booming economy, and collaboration is necessary to accomplish great things and reach higher levels."
