NGO offers interest-free loans to 600 women in Ondo

Determined to ensure the financial and economic inclusion of women in society, a non-governmental organization, Dr Rhoda Makinde Initiative (DROMI), has launched an interest-free loan program to support no less than 600 women in small and medium enterprises. small businesses in Ondo State.

The interest-free loan program which is labeled “Let my hands be enough” is the third phase of such a loan initiative from the organization created for women’s economic development and empowerment.

In her opening remarks, the head and executive director of the organization, Dr. Rhoda Makinde, appreciated her husband, the Honorable Abiola Makinde, a member representing the Federal Constituency of Ondo East/Ondo West for her unwavering and deliberate support for the development of women.< /p>

She explained in her words that the essence of setting up the interest-free loan, "is to economically support women who are small and medium-sized enterprises because she believes that the majority of existing businesses and start-ups ups would thrive and grow rapidly if backed by necessary loans with no interest in the repayment plan; and this loan program is part of DROMI's projects in line with women's financial and economic inclusion, a ten-year project promulgated by the African Union (AU) in 2020. »

She also pointed out that the program was funded personally with the support of her husband and not funded by the government by charging the recipients to deploy the loans for their business growth and not on other social needs.

Some of the beneficiaries, Ms. Catherine Idimah and Ms. Beatrice Akinlami, who expressed their appreciation to the organization for the gesture of empowering struggling women in society, assuring the management that they would be diligent with the funds to grow their businesses.< /p>
