Niger government sacks 25 judicial staff for false certificates and sacks Sharia court judge

As many as twenty-five staff members of the Niger State judiciary have been fired by the Judicial Service Commission, NJSC, for alleged forgery of certificates.

Confirming the dismissal, commission secretary Abdulraman Ahmed Garafini in Minna said the twenty-five staff members were fired after the commission reviewed their cases based on the findings of the audit committee of the state personnel at the end of their mission to the state

According to him, the Engr Ibrahim Panti Committee on Personnel Verification set up by Niger State Governor Abubakar Sani Bello in 2021 found that the certificates of dismissed judicial personnel were falsified and recommended their dismissal from the service.

Garafini revealed, "When the NJSC forwarded the certificates to the schools they claimed to have attended, it was discovered that the certificates were forged."

Similarly, a Shariah court judge and his clerk were reportedly dismissed for allegedly embezzling money from the sale of estates worth N400 million belonging to a popular family in India. State.
