Nigeria begins collection of fees on helicopters landing on oil rigs

A federally-hired indigenous company, Naebi Dynamic Concepts Limited, has inaugurated a team to pilot its new initiative to collect landing and take-off loads from helicopters operating on all platforms across the country.

According to a statement released by Naebi Dynamic Managing Director/General Manager Chike Stanley on Thursday, the policy would create at least 15,000 jobs nationwide.

Mr. Stanley inaugurated the Rivers State Implementation Committee at the Port Harcourt Airport International Wing on Thursday.

The statement reports that Mr Stanley took a step to advance the mandate given by Aviation Minister Hadi Sirika when he inaugurated the consortium in Port Harcourt to collect landing and take-off of helicopters operating in the country's airspace.

Mr. Sirika said the initiative will help increase revenue generation in the sector and create job opportunities across the country.

The team inaugurated by Mr Stanley included representatives from the Police, DSS, Rivers State Government and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA).

Mr. Stanley said the implementation team will help the company easily access all platforms, oil rigs, airstrips, airfields, helipads and helipads in Rivers.

He praised President Muhammadu Buhari and Mr. Sirika, saying the initiative would soon help create more than 15,000 jobs and reduce youth crime and unrest.

Mr. Stanley, who described the decision as an internationally accepted norm, said no well-meaning International Oil Company (IOC) would flout the law as it is in the amended NAMA Act.

"Our mandate is to collect helicopter landing fees for IOCs and LOCs on all platforms, oil rigs, airstrips, airfields, heliports, among others.

The initiative is to generate jobs and increase internally generated revenue (IGR).

"It also solves security issues. It's been tough, but it's been wonderful.

“We are getting there. We have started. There is already compliance at the airport and we hope to have more compliance. We thank the Minister for always giving us all the support we need.

"I thank the President of Nigeria, who created this platform. I thank the Minister of Aviation, who stood firm to ensure that jobs were created for young Nigerians.

"Over the next five years, this platform will generate jobs for over 15,000 young people across the country," he said.

"It will help to reduce some levels of insecurity. This opportunity will help to involve them.

“We called the stakeholders to let them know what happened. They wrote to the NNPC, they wrote to the Ministry of Petroleum. and frame them.

"The essence of the meeting is a message that no one is coming to harass the CIOs. It is a way of telling the CIOs that the government has ordered the creation of access to implement this.

"When you see them being received, as a CIO, you know this is standard practice in the global aviation industry.

“This is an Implementation Committee for Rivers State. We will be going state to state. fulfill the responsibility entrusted by the federal government."
