Nigerian Army scores major successes and kills over 50 terrorists in the North - DHQ

The Nigerian military has eliminated more than 50 terrorists and rescued 50 casualties in ground and air offensives in the northeast and northwest over the past two weeks, an official said.

Director of Defense Media Operations at Defense Headquarters, Musa Danmadami made this known during a bi-weekly press briefing on Armed Forces Operations on Thursday in Abuja.

In the northeast, Danmadami said, Operation Hadin Kai troops neutralized 13 terrorists, apprehended 10 and rescued 41 casualties in ground operations across theater during the period. .

The Major General also said that more than 13 terrorists were eliminated in aerial bombardments in Belowa and Ngwuri Gana in Abadan and Bama Local Government Area in Borno on November 4-5.

He said reactions to the airstrikes revealed that key members of the leadership (Shura Council) of the Islamic State West Africa (ISWAP) province, Ali Kwaya and Bukar Mainoka, were among those killed.

According to him, the airstrikes targeted two ISWAP terrorist vehicles carrying around 13 wounded terrorists who survived the initial strike to another hiding place.

Mr. Danmadami disclosed that a total of 250 Boko Haram/ISWAP members and their families of 43 adult males, 80 adult females and 121 children surrendered to the troops at different locations in the theater.

He said that approximately 13.8 million naira, various categories of weapons and ammunition as well as logistical supplies were captured from terrorists and their collaborators during the period.

According to him, the troops rescued a family of 29 consisting of two adult men, 15 adult women and 12 children from the terrorists during the period.

In the northwest, Danmadami said Operation Hadarin Daji troops on Nov. 9 tracked and apprehended two suspected arms traffickers in the town of Kude in the local government area. from Chikun, Kaduna State, with 400 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition in a truck and the sum of 1 million naira.

He said troops also apprehended a suspected terrorist logistics provider with the sum of 1.5 million naira with a list of items for purchase in his possession at the airport roundabout in Igabi Local Government Area in Kaduna State.
