Noddy's wife revealed that the former Slade frontman was diagnosed with esophageal cancer five years ago.
Holder, 77, was initially given just six months to live , said his wife Suzan.
But she said the singer, known for performing hits like Merry Xmas Everybody and Cum On Feel The Noize, had responded well to experimental chemotherapy.
She said she was "impressed" with how he handled the treatment. “Here we are five years later and he feels great and looks great,” she added.
In Cheshire Life magazine, Ms Holder said her husband came out of it "with incredible good humor and breathtaking courage."
