NPA reiterates its determination to leverage its relationship with WMU

The Chief Executive of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mohammed Bello Koko, has reiterated the Authority's determination to leverage its relationship with the World Maritime University (WMU) in Malmö, Sweden, to stimulate talent development.

Speaking when he received the President of the World Maritime University, Dr Cléopâtre Doumbia-Henry, who recently led the WMU delegation to the NPA headquarters, Bello Koko said: "We have leveraged the insights of our employees who are World Maritime University alumni in implementing our ongoing efforts to deepen the efficiency of our operations by leading them to cascade the skills and competencies acquired at the advantage of the organization. For example, the ballast water management office we have established is headed by a WMU alumnus.”

Koko commended UGM for supporting the Authority through the West and Central Africa Ports Security Project (WeCAPs), which is a crucial part of the President's itinerary. university during his stay in the country.

"Our relentless efforts to improve channel safety in Eastern ports, which are yielding results demonstrated by growth in cargo throughput at the Port of Onne and ship calls at the Port of Calabar, have benefited knowledge from the WeCAPS team, and our doors remain open to more ideas and partnerships that will allow us to optimize these strategic national assets.

In response, Dr. Cleopatra, who incidentally is the first woman to serve as president of the university, said she was pleased with the number of Authority employees who are WMU alumni. and pledged that his institution was ready to strengthen cooperation with the Nigerian Ports Authority.
