OCC makes staff available for fintech-related discussions

The announcement of one-on-one discussions with the OCC followed the department announcing that it plans to create an office of fintech from 2023.

The United States Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, or OCC, has announced that its representatives will be available one-on-one to discuss fintech.

In a Nov. 3 announcement, the OCC said entities considering fintech products and services, bank partnerships, or concerns “related to responsible innovation in financial services” have the opportunity to meet their one hour staff between Dec 14 -15. The government office said it would review requests and proposed discussion topics and announce virtual meeting times.

The OCC's announcement followed the department announcing that it plans to establish a FinTech office beginning in 2023 with the goal of gaining a "deep understanding of FinTech and the landscape financial technology". The request form for OCC office hours offered the opportunity for "frank discussion," suggesting that a transcript or other details are unlikely to be publicly available.

The @USOCC has announced that it will be hosting Virtual Office Hours for Innovation on December 14-15 to promote responsible innovation in the federal banking system. Requests for individual appointments must be submitted by November 18. https://t.co/6G78KV6K0P pic.twitter.com/lBroXemL6U
