He expressed dismay that previous administrations had left the Oba Erinwole Road unguarded despite its direct impact on the socio-economic life of the people, which he said led to the deplorable state of the important road.

"We realized that the majority of these roads have a direct impact on the economic situation of our people. One such neglected road is the Oba Erinwole road. By the time we took office, the road had become a nightmare, completely impractical and causing untold hardship to our people, and Sagamu was becoming an outcast among the cities because of this negligence.

“So I am happy to be here today to commission this same Oba Erinwole Road which was to be a punishment orchestrated by the former governor and the narrow minded politicians of yore towards the Remo people. This project, yet again, is a touchstone of our commitment as an administration that keeps its promises.

"In our approach to infrastructure development in Ogun State, Oba Erinwole Road has been identified among other roads across the state as a top priority to be completed before the end of our first term. To date, more than 80 major and other roads (federal roads included) totaling 400 km have been built, rebuilt or rehabilitated throughout the state. This administration, in three years and six months, has done more in terms of road miles than previous state administrations,” the governor said.

The Governor noted that the road, apart from being a major link to Lagos, the economic capital of the country and the common thread of economic activities to Sagamu, it would also provide access to a suite of industries operating in the 'axis.

Underlining that the road was built to meet standards, Abiodun said it will improve people's living standards and open up Sagamu's potential to more investors.

He stressed that people choose the road according to their needs, assuring that his government will ensure that all local government areas benefit from the road project.

Abiodun further disclosed that graders and other road equipment would be deployed to local government areas across the state to rehabilitate roads at the base.

Over the past three and a half years, the Governor has highlighted that his administration has been able to rekindle hope in the public by deploying alternative financial strategies through public-private partnership in the execution of projects across the state.

While assuring that his government would not rest on its oars until most of the state's roads were passable, the Governor again stated that all abandoned projects that directly impact the property -being of the population would be completed, calling on the inhabitants of Sagamu to take ownership of the road, while motorists are urged to refrain from speeding.

In his goodwill message, the Akarigbo and supreme ruler of Remoland, Oba Babatunde Ajayi, noted that the road before the reconstruction was one of the most deplorable roads in the state, appreciating the governor by holding his words rebuilding the road.

While thanking the current administration for spreading development projects to all parts of the state, the monarch said the current administration will be a benchmark for years to come in the state. State.

Sagamu Local Government Area Chairman Afolabi Odulate said Oba Erinwole Road, one of the most important roads in the city, has been in poor condition for a long time, adding that the intervention by the state government to put it back in good condition is something people would be grateful for in many years to come.

Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Akin Adesanya, in his welcoming remarks, said the road, which was built to meet the acceptable standard, will promote economic relations between the people of Sagamu and Ikorodu in Lagos, adding that the project has created jobs for young people and has had an impact on the socio-economic development of the inhabitants of the axis.
