Ojota: Gani Adams denies OPC joined Yoruba nation protest and fired on police

Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba country, Iba Gani Adams has dismissed allegations that members of the Oodua People's Congress (OPC) were involved in the fracas that broke out at Ojota in Lagos.

DAILY POST has contacted the traditional ruler after the deadly clash with police on Monday morning. One person has died.

The security agency recounted how protesters opened fire on its officers, seriously injuring two.

Adams noted that the Ojota rally and how it ended "came as a surprise and caught everyone off guard".

“There were reports linking OPC members to the chaos. I want to make it clear that none of our members were on the scene.”

He said that although the Yoruba people have the inalienable right to defend self-determination, the OPC did not participate in today's protest.

The Aare said the information was malicious, malicious and could trigger disaffection between the organization and people of the ethnicity.

"Information available to me from visuals indicated a peaceful gathering that later turned sour.

"How can people be so mean to spread such sensitive information that the OPC attacked the Yoruba Nation agitators?

"OPC is not against the liberation of the Yoruba race. Our position on regionalism is very clear. It is sacrosanct because that is what we seek at this time.

“Nigeria should be restructured into full regional autonomy, where each region will be free to operate at its own pace,” the statement added.
