Okowa blames APC for poverty and hunger in the country

…says Delta Healthcare will curb medical tourism

Delta State Governor and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Vice Presidential Candidate Ifeanyi Okowa said last weekend that the party's mismanagement of the national economy in power, the All Progressives Congress (APC), has caused the increase of hunger and poverty in the country.

He said this during an empowerment program for the people of Ika Federal Constituency in Boji-Boji Owa, Ika North Council by the member representing the constituency in the House of Representatives, Mr. Victor Nwokolo.

The Governor, who praised Nwokolo for his gesture, described the event as “an empowerment program with a difference. He said Nigeria was troubled because people were hungry and unemployed due to mismanagement of the national economy.

He added that even the students faced many challenges because their parents could not meet their needs due to the level of poverty resulting from the incompetence of the federal government led by APC.

He therefore urged Nigerians to support the PDP, saying it was the only party with a clear understanding of the nation's challenges and a clear solution to save the nation.

Earlier, Nwokolo said his motive for the empowerment was to bring hope to the desperate in the face of increasing hunger and poverty in the country.

Meanwhile, Okowa, also at the various forums, said the huge investment made by his administration in the health sector was aimed at improving the delivery of health care and reducing medical tourism in the country .

He revealed this in an interview with reporters shortly after inspecting the facilities of the Advanced Diagnostic Medical Center and Owa-Alero Mother and Child Hospital in Ika State Council.

He said the twinned medical facilities will, when completed, reduce medical tourism, as they will provide first-class medical services to people who have sought medical treatment abroad.

"I'm glad we got to this stage. I was hopeful that by today, we would have inaugurated these projects.

"The equipment is fully in place and we are trying to sort things out completely and I'm sure within the next month it should be ready and open to the public.

“Both projects are obviously very important. Mother and child, as it says, are supposed to take care of all the diseases concerning our women and children,” he said.
