Okowa congratulates Adeleke on his inauguration as governor of Osun

Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and People's Democratic Party (PDP) Vice Presidential Candidate congratulated Senator Ademola Adeleke on his inauguration as the sixth Governor of Osun.

Okowa, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Officer, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, on Monday in Asaba, described the emergence of Adeleke as "the entrance of light for the people of Osun".

He prayed that his inauguration will serve as a forerunner for the PDP to meet Nigeria's current challenges.

The governor noted that Adeleke's election signaled the reality of the PDP's determination to save Nigeria, adding that the mission was still ongoing.

"On behalf of the government and people of Delta, I congratulate you, my dear brother and friend, Senator Ademola Adeleke, on your successful inauguration as Governor of Osun.

“It is heartwarming to witness your inauguration as the sixth governor of Osun against all odds and I am grateful to the electorate of Osun for avoiding the entreaties of the retrograde forces.

“I pray that God grants you the wisdom, knowledge and resources to fulfill your campaign promises to remove the darkness that pervades your state, Osun,” he said.

He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its commitment to improving the management of elections in the country through the introduction of technology to ensure the integrity of the electoral process and guarantee its credibility.

"Also allow me to thank INEC for demonstrating true independence, as required by the laws of our country, and for improving the logistics and conduct of the election that announced your emergence.

“As we head into the 2023 General Elections, we urge INEC to further improve on the achievement recorded in Osun so that the votes of anxious Nigerians can truly count for them,” he said.

Okowa also commended PDP and all its organs across the country for adding another state to its fold and called on all stakeholders to work in harmony to field all party candidates in the general elections of 2023.

According to him, if the PDP can stay united, victory is assured, as the party is ready to give the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) a good fight by 2023.
