WCO grants compensation to food banks

OMD BBC Music Day

Veteran synth-pop band Orchestral Maneuvers in the Dark have donated to charity the compensation they received for problems during a recent concert.

The show at the M&S Bank Arena in Liverpool two weeks ago was disrupted by heating problems.

The band and their promoter paid the compensation to food banks in Liverpool and Wirral, where the band is from.

The group said they wanted to help people who really need it.

In a statement on social media, they said that "despite the heat generated by everyone dancing,” the room was unusually cold.

They added: "OMD and AEG (our promoter) have decided to donate all this money to food banks in Liverpool and Wirral to help those who need it really needed. on behalf of all our Liverpool and Merseyside fans."

OMD, formed 46 years ago, has enjoyed a string of successes including Enola Gay, Remembrance and Joan of Arc.
