Commissioner d'Ondo resigns hours after cabinet reshuffle

The Ondo State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Yetunde Adeyanju, resigned from her post after a minor cabinet reshuffle by Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu.

Ms Adeyanju, who was redeployed on Wednesday from the Ministry of Water and Sanitation to the Ministry of Land Use Planning and Urban Development, handed in her resignation letter shortly after Mr Akeredolu announced the reorganization of his cabinet.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Mr. Akeredolu on Wednesday announced a minor cabinet reshuffle, where former Commissioner for Regional Integration and Diaspora, Bamidele Ademola-Olateju, was redeployed to Ministry of Information and Guidance.

In addition, the former Commissioner for Physical and Urban Development, Fatai Aburumaku, has been redeployed to the Ministry of Water and Sanitation, while Ms. Adeyanju, who was the former Commissioner for Water and sanitation, was redeployed to the Ministry of Land Use Planning and Urban Development.

Mrs Adeyanju, in a copy of the letter titled “Resignation of Appointment” made available to reporters hours after the cabinet reshuffle, praised the Governor for the opportunity to serve the people of Ondo State .

The letter to Governor Akeredolu reads: "I hereby resign my appointment as Commissioner in Ondo State with immediate effect.

"My decision is based on a personal belief to explore other projects outside of politics for now.

"However, I am grateful to you for the golden opportunity given to me to contribute to the growth of our beloved state, especially with the rural water supply of Kamomi Aketi.

"You gave me the platform and I am proud to have used it well for the good of mankind. The water system of Kamomi AKETI remains today the joy of thousands of inhabitants rural.

“Once again, thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve. Best wishes, Adeyanju Yetunde (Ms),” she said in the letter.
