Osimhen's goalscoring instinct impresses Bagni

Former Italy striker Salvatore Bagni has praised Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen for his superb performance in Napoli's 1-0 win over Roma on Sunday.

The Nigerian striker just made his return to the Napoli squad two weeks ago in their 4-2 win over Ajax, where he also netted a goal despite playing 45 minutes game on the field.

His powerful late goal against Roma sealed the victory for the Neapolitans.

In the build-up to the goal, the Nigerian international showed pace and physical strength to beat Chris Smalling before firing past Rui Patricio into Roma's goal.

Bagni was impressed with Osimhen's performance and ranks the Nigerian striker ahead of other strikers at Napoli.

"Osimhen allowed me to manage the 90 minutes better," Bagni told Napoli Magazine.

“Victor is not all depth and he is not all speed. The goal against Roma can only do it in Osimhen.

"Here Victor is stealing Smalling's time and neither Raspadori nor Simeone can do it, so for me this move is all instinct."

Napoli are running smoothly and top the Serie A table with 29 points from 11 appearances and haven't lost a game in the 2022/23 season.

Osimhen, who has four goals in seven appearances for Raspadori, has attracted interest from English clubs and will hope to build on his form.
