Osun 2022: APC leader Awofisayo calls for peaceful elections
A prominent member of the ruling All Progressives Congressional Alumni Caucus, APC and Chairman of the Gboyega Oyetola Foundation, GOF in Osun State, Prince Felix Adeyemi Awofisayo called on all residents and natives who will participate in the July 16 gubernatorial election in the state to conduct themselves peacefully during the election.
He made the call today in a press release issued by his media team and made available to journalists in Osogbo, the state capital.
The Ile-Ife-born prince emphasized that development can only be achieved in a peaceful environment.
According to him, the peace of Osun as a state should be the first duty of every resident for all the dividends of democracy to manifest.
“It is very difficult, if not impossible, for us to experience the true dividends of democracy in a cancerous environment,” he said.
Prince Awofisayo also advised all residents of voting age in the state to perform their civic duties in the July 16 gubernatorial election and conduct themselves in a peaceful manner to enable the process to go off without a hitch.
The GOF Chairman also urged the top management of all political parties participating in the election to call all their members to order and lecture them on the need to conduct themselves in a way that does not risk breaking the current peace the state is known for.
"I want to take this opportunity to urge all members of the leadership of all political parties participating in the election of governors to educate their members on the need to allow the present peace which we all enjoy in the state to continue unimpeded,” Prince Awofisayo said.
While instructing all spiritual leaders in the state to continue praying for a peaceful electoral process in the upcoming gubernatorial elections in Osun State, the prominent APC leader in the State stressed the need to make the election rancor-free.
