Osun receives 5,306 BVAS, INEC begins staff training

The Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Osun State Independent National Electoral Commission, Dr. Mutiu Agboke, said on Saturday that the commission had received a total of 5,306 dual-modal voter accreditation systems for use in the elections from 2023.

Agboke, who spoke at an INEC sensitization campaign in Osogbo, organized in collaboration with Power Of PVC Ride, a non-governmental organization, to raise awareness about the collection of permanent voter cards in the state, also said the commission began training its staff ahead of the poll.

He said: "We have received 5,306 BVAS, we are ready, we are invoicing, configuring, training our staff and working with stakeholders day in and day out and we have always engaged our stakeholders."

He called on the people of the state to collect their PVCs to enable them to participate in the upcoming elections.

He said, "So we have to increase the level of awareness to go and collect PVCs. For example when I took over from Osun, we had 408,197 PVCs and between December 12 and 17, only 1,032 voters went to withdraw their cards.

“As I speak to you, we have 407,165. If we have more than 400,000 PVC and only 1,000 have gone to collection, that means we haven't done anything. That means people haven't really come out. So the first thing we need to do is raise our level of awareness."
