Oyo NUT commissions sports complex in Ibadan

The National President of the Nigerian Teachers Union, Mr. Audu Titus Amba, has urged teachers across the country to continue to support their leaders and work hard for the benefit of the teaching profession

Amba, who said he was proud to be a teacher and would continue to be part of all the transformations taking place in the profession, said so on Tuesday during the commissioning ceremony of the new NUT Model School Sports Complex at NUT Model College, Owode, Apata Estate, Ibadan.

The President also urged his members in the state to continue to support the current administration in the state having been granted rare privileges and for the honor bestowed upon the teaching profession deserves as evidenced by the prompt payment of salary , teachers' gratuities and pensions, allowances and arrears.

“I urge all teachers in Oyo State to support the Governor, so that he continues to do what is expected of him for the good of teachers and education,” said- he said.

He praised and commended the members, past and present leaders of Oyo State NUT for their foresight regarding the construction of the NUT Stadium.

The stadium includes a running track and an Olympic-standard football pitch, among other sports facilities, the first of its kind in the union's records.

He advised the members to be more loyal to the cause of the union through their services not only to gain knowledge, but also to climb the ranks and deposit just like him and other great leaders of the union to assume leadership responsibilities. .

Youth and Sports Commissioner, Hon Seun Fakorede, who represented Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, praised the efforts of teachers in the state.

“I am happy to be associated with what you are doing here today. The feat will also be counted as one of my achievements as Commissioner.”

“This initiative will be of great benefit to the constituency I represent – ​​the youth. Such a project is what we encourage in the state. It is undoubtedly a legacy that will live on,” he said

Earlier in his address, State Chairman Mr. Oladimeji Raji said that the creation of the new sports complex marked another milestone in the annals of the union, describing it as a vision becoming reality.

He noted that the capital-intensive project had been carried out through a social security fund known as the "EndWell Scheme", set up by the union's Oyo State wing there. is nearly 27 years old, adding that “the program has flourished and credibility achieved honorable while physical manifestation is what we all come together to witness today.”
