Paramore has canceled its "This is Why" US tour, citing singer Hayley Williams' illness.

The band previously postponed four gigs as Williams attempted to recover. But Williams, 34, said her doctor told her she was now at risk of long-term damage. Thus, the group will give up its two remaining concerts of the American tour.

"After my lung infection forced us to postpone four shows, I was hoping for a week off and a strict medical routine would allow my body to heal enough to finish this tour strong,” Williams said in a statement shared on social media.

"I've done my best to fight this infection so we don't have to disappoint anyone with more information on postponements and cancellations After struggling through the last few shows and consulting with my doctor, we sadly realize that now is not the time to want to go all the way to put on a good show for all of you. ."

The decision to cancel the remaining shows came in Seattle on Wednesday night. Portland and Salt Lake City are the remaining stops. Refunds on tickets will be available at place of purchase.

"I am now at risk of long-term damage and have to be careful with my body," Williams says in his statement. "In that spirit and with heavy hearts, we must cancel our remaining concerts in Portland and Salt Lake City."

She apologized to fans who she said had likely postponed attending to shows.

"Physically I can't go on," she admitted. "I know this is not good news for anyone. Thank you so much for your continued support."

The band is next due to perform a sold-out concert at the New Yorker Festival in October before heading to New Zealand and Australia in November and Europe next year.
