Paris Hilton Reveals Her Son's Name and Explains Its Meaning: "It Means So Much"
Paris Hilton has finally revealed her baby's name, and it's a meaningful name for her. On Feb. 22, the 42-year-old DJ and heiress shared an Instagram post with her son's name — Phoenix Barron Hilton Reum — and wrote that the name "means so much to me" in the caption. In an episode of her "This Is Paris" podcast, released the same day, Hilton shared more details about the meaning of the name.
"I've been planning my children's names for years and years," she said. If she has a daughter, she added, she always planned to choose the name London. But a boy's name took her a little longer to figure out, mostly because she wanted to name her son after a place. "Over ten years ago I thought of this amazing name...It's not just a city, but it has other meanings as well which are just beautiful. I truly believe that names have power, and we wanted a name for our little boy who was particularly remarkable," she added. She then read an excerpt from her book "Paris: Les Mémoires" in which she details why she chose this name. .
"Phoenix has some great pop culture reference points, but more importantly, it's the bird that goes extinct and then rises from the ashes to fly again," she said. "I want my son to grow up knowing that disasters and triumphs come and go throughout our lives, and that should give us great hope for the future, even when the past is painful and the present seems fell in the water. t."
"It's weird how two ideas so different, so completely opposite, can coexist like this. But they do," she continued. "Freedom and pain, joy and sorrow, love and loss." Hilton went on to explain that the name Barron is actually a nod to her grandfather, who "was always my mentor."
