Passengers were left in tears after being trapped on a plane cooking in Nice for 90 minutes - before the pilot was forced to let them return to the air deck to freshen up as some fell ill.

The British Airways flight from Nice to Heathrow was due to take off at 7.35pm this evening but tired passengers waited an hour and a half on the hot plane without air conditioning.

'It's shameful. It's hotter than hell on this plane. British Airways is killing us slowly,” an angry passenger told MailOnline.

'The passengers are crying and are about to pass out.'

'It's really disgusting that they don't have air conditioning. British Airways is literally a joke.'

Two travelers fell ill and were removed from the plane, while cabin crew and the pilot apologized to the passengers for the situation.

"They are now giving out water and telling everyone to go to the pier," the passenger added.
