Edo State Governor Mr Godwin Obaseki expressed confidence that the Peoples Democratic Party will emerge victorious in the upcoming general election, noting that the party will deploy technology to ensure victory at the polls.

The governor who convened the south-south zonal meeting of the PDP, held at Ibom Hall in Uyo, the capital of Akwa-Ibom state, said the waters were tested in Edo and Osun states, where the party leveraged technology to secure victory in gubernatorial elections.

Obaseki said the meeting was held to discuss issues affecting the party ahead of the launch of the PDP's presidential campaign for the February 23, 2023 elections in the South-South region, noting that this would be a very different election seen in the past.

He noted, “Our election in Edo has redefined the face of elections in this Republic. It will be a technical election as we used technology to win our election in Edo State. We repeated the same in Osun State and can now say how the elections are going with the new electoral law. In this zone, we have the skills and knowledge to support each other in running for and winning elections. The election is not won on polling day, but a battle for election at the level of the voting unit. »

For his part, the Governor of Delta State and PDP Vice Presidential candidate, Dr. the meeting would create an opportunity to rub shoulders and get to know the band members better.

Okowa said, "As a party, we are better prepared for this election. As a zone, we are strong and will continue to strengthen the party as we deliver more votes to the party and emerge victorious.

“For this election, with the election laws, a lot of work is required because we will be using the bimodal verification accreditation system recognized in the election law. He calls for more work and mobilization in the elections of February and March 2023. The South-South is a strong pillar of the PDP because we hope to obtain votes for the party. »
