PDP deputy national secretary debunks defection rumors

Deputy National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. (Arc.) Setonji Koshoedo, has responded to rumors that he has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement Monday, the Hon. Koshoedo wondered who could be so threatened by his growth in politics to go so far as to taint his long-term record of loyalty, consistency, personal integrity and pedigree within the party.

Deputy National Secretary of the People's Democratic Party, (PDP) Setonji Koshoedo.

Noting that politics without probity is empty, he said it is not only immoral for him to leave the party which has not only contributed immensely to his political career.

Stating that those who quit the People's Democratic Party can only be those who enter politics for selfish reasons, Koshoedo said his policy has never been for personal aggrandizement.

He said there was no reason for him to leave the party for the APC which has just manipulated the population to retain power.

Rather than stepping down, he said he is currently engaged in very extensive statewide consultations and meetings with PDP members on steps to rebuild and reposition the party with a view to a successful return in future elections.

While assuring his party colleagues, friends and supporters that the trust they have placed in him will not be betrayed for a mess of porridge, he urged members of the Peoples Democratic Party at home and to abroad to dismiss the unfounded rumor and rest assured that the Party recovery process that has begun will soon reach them.
