Permanent Secretary, Adesola takes over the management of FCTA

The Permanent Secretary of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, Mr. Olusade Adesola, has taken over the leadership of the FCTA following the departure of former ministers Muhammad Bello and Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu.

Speaking at the handover, Bello instructed City Managers and Heads of Secretariats to step up their duties in preserving the Abuja Master Plan, especially the water bodies, like Lake Jabi and reserved green spaces.

He said, "Obviously the FCT, especially the FCC, is going through tremendous challenges that would warrant those who take on the responsibility of running the territory and the city itself, really have to go the extra mile. , otherwise the city will be beyond your grip.If we are not careful, in the next two years Jabi Lake may dry up due to encroachment, because once you lose the environment, vegetation and water bodies, it is impossible to recover them."

The former minister also used the medium to ask for forgiveness for all his misdeeds, when he left office.

For his part, former FCT Minister of State, Dr. Ramatu Aliyu, stressed the need for senior staff to strengthen the institutional framework of FCDA/FCTA and cultivate the habit of keeping the "story" of the system.

Aliyu, thanked the FCTA Permanent Secretary, directors, staff and drivers for their cooperation and tolerance, although she insisted on the need to forgive each other and allow the collaboration to lead.

On receiving the handover document, FCTA Permanent Secretary Mr. Olusade Adesola noted that the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari was the first to ensure a smooth transition in Nigeria's history.

He said, "There are situations where the outgoing government has not handed over any documents and it could be difficult for the incoming administration, and by Executive Order 14, the President has directed that this be incorporated into the transition bill which will soon be enacted.

"As such, the document you leave behind does not reflect the full range of activities you undertook while in office, but we have endeavored to capture as much as possible so that whoever will your successor in office can carry on from here.”

Adesola revealed that the FCTA started the process of compiling transfer notes two weeks before President Muhammadu Buhari issued a directive on the implementation of Executive Order 14.

He explained that the handover report is a document written in Vol. 1, 2 and 3 and captured a wide range of activities that were carried out under the administration of Muhammad Musa Bello of the FCTA-SDA, particularly in the area of ​​Abuja Tramway, Garki Hospital and Buildings collapsed.
