Detectives from Bayelsa Police Command arrested a suspected kidnapper, John Ewa, who was on the state police wanted list.

PUNCH Metro learned that the police followed Ewa, who calls himself Lion, to Abuja, where they caught him Saturday.

The suspect, who flaunts his wealth on social media, is believed to be involved in several kidnappings around Yenagoa, the state capital.

In a six-second clip that made the rounds on social media over the weekend, Ewa, dressed in her pajamas, was seen displaying foreign currency notes and saying : "Get money for this life, hustle, hustle."

However, another video of his arrest also surfaced over the weekend on social media.

In the one minute five second clip, a sobbing Ewa was seen wearing only pants, kneeling on the floor with his hands cuffed and apparently answering questions from officers.

He said: “Please forgive me. My wife has just been born herself."

The voice of one of his victims, Danjuma, was also heard, as he identified the suspect when he and his gang members kidnapped him.

State Police Command spokesman Asinim Butswat confirmed Ewa's arrest.

He said, "We'll release a statement tomorrow (Monday) or scroll the suspect."
