She noted that the protection of women during elections is very important for their active participation.

Represented by State Chairman, FIDA Borno State, Hafsat Baba, Agbaje noted that over the years women have been victims of electoral violence, saying that storytelling must be addressed in upcoming elections in Nigeria.

"Eradicating political violence is key to advancing women's political participation, as it is of paramount importance to condense political violence before and after elections so that women can fully participate in elections" , said Agbade.

According to her, globally, women share a common characteristic of marginalization and their participation in politics has remained minimal because more often than not they are afraid to go out to exercise their civic responsibility.

"As such, this workshop aims to build the capacity of law enforcement officials and institutions to encourage greater participation of women by ensuring seamless violence before, during and after elections.
