Wizkid gets no Headies nominations
For the first time in 13 years, Nigerian Afrobeats artist Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, has not been nominated for the 16th Annual Headies Awards.
On Wednesday, the organizers of the Headies Awards announced the nominees in various categories. Following the announcement, several mixed reactions followed Wizkid's absence from the nominations list.
Many were surprised that Wizkid, a Grammy award-winning singer, was not nominated. Some people have argued that the artist's latest project, "More Love Less Ego," should be considered for a nomination.

Blackface accuses Burnaboy and others of stealing his songs
BlackfaceFriday, Blackface, former member of the band now disbanded Plantashun Boiz, accused famous Nigerian singers Burnaboy, Wizkid and Asake of sampling his songs without his permission.
In a recent interview on Naija FM, the singer claimed that Asake sampled his song “Ikebe Super” on the track “Joha”. Blackface has also claimed to be an "inspiration" for new generation artists. However, he warned them to contact him before sampling his songs.
He further recalled how, in 2015, prominent artists Burnaboy and Wizkid copied his song "Twist and Turn" in one of their musical collaborations. He said they sampled his song on the track "Ginger".
“They love the music, I know, but does that give them the right to sample remakes or remixes of works I've already released without proper permission? really sabotage me,” he said.
